Viren joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1979 and became a Fellow Member of the Institute in 1989. Viren also became a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 1987.
After completing his secondary education in Kenya and following a one-year foundation course at the Central London Polytechnic, he entered into a four-year training contract studying chartered accountancy. This was with a seven-partner firm in London’s West End. To gain large scale practice experience, Viren joined Ernst & Whinney, London, in 1979. Here he conducted audits for blue-chip companies such as Dunlop, BP and Lucas.
Having gained huge experience in this field for three consecutive years, Viren went on to join the DHSS Special Internal Audit Division for one year to gain public sector experience. Following this, he became a partner at Price Mann in 1982.
Recently retired, Viren remains on the board as a senior consultant, having previously managed a wide client portfolio. Viren assisted companies, partnerships, sole traders and individuals with accounting and tax affairs. This included doctors, dentists and other specialised professions.
Viren is somewhat of a rising golf star! The former captain of the CAREgolf Society, his other interests include hiking, trekking—climbing Mount Kilimanjaro—and travelling. He is also involved with charity work and was president of the Sudbury Lions Clubs International.
